Free Choice reading Response WEEK3

Ive been reading the novel "Bud, Not Buddy" By Christopher Paul Curtis. It explores the subculture of young black males of the 30's. I can kind of relate to the main character, Bud, because he basically raised himself living from home to home. I never lived in a foster home or been adopted but i have taught myself how to do alot of things on my own because my mom always worked. I like how the author uses a common African American household slang or use of words for the main character. Such ma'am, lil, and momma etc. It did stir a few emotion within me. Kind of angry when he was getting blamed for things his foster brother was doing. Because it irritates me when someone annoying does things like that and theres nothin you can really do. No one would believe him. It also made me laugh at times. Overall so far its been an amazing and interesting book. I look foward to reading more.

  1. This is one of my favorites. I love how it focuses on the blues!

Steve, compose your blog posts in Microsoft Word and then cut and paste them. That way you'll have a word count. This is a little short.
